Broadcast from CCTV cameras on Youtube

Remote communication methods are becoming more and more popular. A good solution will be the ability to stream images from cameras CCTV  on YouTube channel, which can then be played on a computer, phone, smartTV or shared on the website. By connecting a microphone or selecting camera with a built-in microphone, of course, we also transmit sound. Thanks to this solution, you can conduct live broadcasts of lessons, training, worship or other corporate or private events.

Below we present an example of a live broadcast from cameras located in our company. This solution will be used for training, lessons, webinars, fitness classes, religious events, transmissions from cultural facilities: museums, exhibitions, theaters or any other occasion that we want to share with a wider audience.

Mode of action

The RTMP protocol can be used to easily create broadcasts over the Internet. All you need is an active account on the website that enables live broadcasts, a fast and stable internet connection, a computer and, of course, a camera supporting the RTMP protocol (the recorder is not needed). It is worth mentioning that a better quality camera with a higher resolution will be a better choice. If you also want to transmit audio, you will need a microphone connected to the camera. Transmission settings are very simple, below we also provide a manual showing all the configuration steps.

Configuration Manual

1. 1. Create a live stream with Youtube Creator Studio. 

Download the address and transmission key, this information can be found in the encoder configuration tab in the transmission panel.

2. 2. Prepare the URL + stream key for implementation in the camera, the corrected address should look like this:

3. 3. The RTMP option works correctly with G1 platform cameras with audio and with a minimum firmware version of 5.6.2_190816
   4. Configure the audio stream in the camera according to the screenshots below (YouTube cannot detect transmission without proper audio coding).

5. 5. After properly configuring the stream, paste the prepared url address with the encryption key in the RTMP tab, which is located in the advanced network settings.

6. 6. After the setup is complete, the stream from the camera should appear in the YouTube broadcast panel.
